Happy Labor day Internet! Posting another update because this one of the few places I feel I can gather my thoughts without restraint. Today’s art post is Tamaki from DOA6. I keep coming back to her because when I was younger, I tried an Aikido Class for a little while. I recognize some of the movements in the game. But at the same time makes sense for her character to have Aikido, it’s a martial art created for the sole purpose of immobilizing your opponent without hurting them. If I recall there are no actual tournaments for this type of Martial art so, it surprised me that it was included in DOA.
But for Tamaki having her use Aikido makes sense. It’s akin to Smash bros making a moveset with characters like Isabelle.
I apologize for the lack of updates on this site. I’ve been touring what is left of the Dead Or Alive community online. I recently made an account at FreeStepDodge.com, I’ve been watching some DOA youtubers like Ultima_Ivanov and Beely1011, even watched the recent EVO Tournament we had on XtremeFightersShowdown‘s channel. It feels good to know the community is still alive in some fashion. The most I knew about the DOA community growing up was from an old site called Fightersgeneration, Gaming magazines and places like reddit. I grew up playing mostly single player arcade mode for the story since DOA2. I’m so glad we have this community, I can only imagine what it’d be like if DOA 6 had kept going.
Anyway, Thank you for visiting this site if you happen to pass by. DOA aside, I haven’t really touched much else. I’ve been going through Street Fighter 6’s Swimsuit costumes and what really caught my eye was Chun-Li’s alternate outfit. it’s clearly a Gyaru inspired alternate color. I love seeing Gyaru referenced whenever possible.
I can only imagine what Kasumi or Kokoro would look like in a Gyaru Costume. It would be kinda funny for those who know what it is. Some people would be so confused though.
